Orphia
Terms of use
Last updated 9 October 2026. Effective [Effective date].
Draft — this document is awaiting legal review and may change before Orphia launches.
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name]. By using Orphia you accept them. Please also read the privacy policy.
1. Who can use Orphia
You must be at least 13 years old, or use Orphia through a learner profile that a parent or guardian manages. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details private.
2. Your sheet music
Only scan or upload music you have the right to use. That means music in the public domain, music you wrote, or copies you're allowed to make for your own practice (for example a book you own, where the law of your country permits a personal copy).
- Your scores are private. Orphia doesn't publish them or show them to other users, and you may not use Orphia to distribute sheet music to others.
- You keep every right you have in what you upload. You give us only the permission we need to store it and process it to provide the service to you.
- If you believe something stored in Orphia infringes your copyright, email copyright@orphia.app with the work, where it appears and your contact details. We act on valid notices promptly and may close accounts that repeatedly infringe.
3. Free and Pro plans
Orphia has a free plan with monthly limits and a paid Pro subscription. The current limits and prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions are bought through the App Store or Google Play and are billed by them. They renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your Orphia account does not cancel the subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, you're charged when it ends unless you cancel before then.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
4. Acceptable use
Don't:
- try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its limits;
- create accounts automatically, or misuse free trials or guest accounts;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything that isn't sheet music;
- use another person's account without permission.
We may suspend accounts that do, after telling you why where we can.
5. Scan accuracy and feedback
Reading printed music automatically is hard, and the digital score may contain mistakes. Practice feedback and insights are guidance, not a substitute for a teacher. Orphia is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows.
6. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country. Beyond those, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
7. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy & account → Delete account (more about deletion). We may end the service with reasonable notice; if we do, we'll give you a way to export your scores first.
8. Changes and law
We'll tell you in the app before material changes to these terms take effect. These terms are governed by the law of [governing law], without depriving you of the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
